Frank Gehry has designed a new building for Toronto's theater district!!
OCAD U will have some space in it but that will not be until I am long out of school. That's a little sad because I would have loved to take classes in class spaces designed by Frank Gehry. I have a class at the AGO but it isn't the same, just that fear of missing out. I will definitely visit it, it won't be done for about a decade so there's no way I would stay at OCADU for that much longer just to take a class in what I can only assume will be a wicked-ass building.
The way Gehry designs buildings is very interesting, using scribbles and crumpled paper. The way he comes up with ideas would be useful in coming up with ideas for 3D forms in fabric as well, I scribble and crumple paper all the time!
